1994 promises to be a very exciting year for the left and progressive people. In April will come the first democratic election in South Africa. Â鶹´«Ã½ will be there to cover it.
Over Easter, the International Â鶹´«Ã½ Conference will draw activists from around Australia and around the world to Sydney. Â鶹´«Ã½ will be there to cover it.
As the recession continues to bite, and politics grows ever more deceptive, the need for a paper like Â鶹´«Ã½ Weekly becomes ever larger. Now in our fourth year of production, Â鶹´«Ã½ will go on presenting the alternative and building links. We will continue to print the news that the others don't want you to read.
We set ourselves a large task, and it's not one that we can achieve without the active support of our readers. In 1993, we raised over $100,000 above the sale price of Â鶹´«Ã½ to cover the cost of production. In 1994, we have to do it again.
Right through the year, members of the Democratic Socialist Party, Resistance and others will be campaigning intensely to raise money for Â鶹´«Ã½. You can play an invaluable part also. Come along to Â鶹´«Ã½ functions and forums. Help distribute Â鶹´«Ã½ in your city. Or donate to the Â鶹´«Ã½ Weekly fund appeal.
In 1994, make your New Year's resolution count. Put your time and money into building Â鶹´«Ã½ Weekly, in whatever way you can. Â鶹´«Ã½ Weekly — it's your newspaper.
