Indonesian police shot two senior high school students in Gorong Gorong, Timika, West Papua on September 28, the the next day.
The IPAHR said 17-year-old Kaleb Bogau was shot in the chest and died on the scene. Efrando Sabarofek, also 17, was shot in the chest and leg and is in a critical condition in the Timika hospital.

A group of Free West Papua supporters attended a morning tea fundraiser in Darwin on August 2. The special guest was foreign affairs minister Julie Bishop. We wanted to meet her to discuss human rights in West Papua.
Bishop was the key speaker. She took a few questions from the crowd but, although she knew I wanted to speak to her, she ignored me every time.

The left-wing People's Democratic Party (PRD) held its eighth congress in Jakarta from March 24-26. This was the first time its congress was held openly.

A new group has been established to campaign for women鈥檚 rights in Indonesia. In December, more than 100 women met in Jakarta to launch Indonesian Women鈥檚 Action 鈥 Kartini (API-K), which has begun campaigning for women鈥檚 rights in the workplace, home and society.
Participants came from 32 cities across Indonesia. They included women who are involved in existing women鈥檚 networks, students, workers and urban poor. They spent three days discussing issues facing women in economics, politics and culture.

It brings me much sadness and grief to report that 2 days ago on March 19, 4 more of my people were shot by the Indonesian police. One was killed and at least 3 more were arrested, all simply for attending a peaceful fundraiser in Yahukimo, West Papua.
