The Sydney Anti-AUKUS Coalition held a protest and candlelight vigil on September 16 to mark one year since the former Scott Morrison Liberal-National government of Australia signed the AUKUS military pact with the US and UK governments to purchase nuclear-powered submarines as part of its escalating war drive against China.
Speakers at the protest included: Greens MP Jenny Leong; Alexander Brown from Wollongong Against War and Nukes; former Senator Jo Vallentine and Warren Smith, the deputy national secretary of the Maritime Union of Australia. Kelly Marks from the NSW Teachers Federation sent a written message of support.
