Victorian police have exercised extreme violence against activists protesting the International Mining and Resources Conference in Melbourne, spraying large amounts of chemicals on non-violent protesters.
Two activists had climbed up a couple of pillars to hang a banner, causing no property damage, and were climbing down. Activists had surrounded the pillars to stop police arresting them.
Then police moved in.
This is the latest in a series of escalating violent attacks by the Victorian Police towards protesters. It comes after people had their heads shoved against concrete and police horse charges yesterday.
It is telling that some of the worst acts of police violence in recent years has come during IMARC — where they are defending the interests of mining corporations that are destorying our planet for their profits.
