Refugees have been protesting聽outside the office of home affairs minister Clare O'Neil, in Oakleigh, to demand permanent visas.

The protest, from April 8 to April 10, was organised by 鈥12,000 Captive Souls鈥, a group comprising refugees with聽temporary visas which means they have to repeatedly renew them.

This makes it difficult for them to plan their future and they face the threat of deportation to danger.
