Protesters gathered on November 26 to oppose Vimy Resources' proposal to mine uranium at Mulga Rock.
Timed to coincided with the company's AGM, the protest in South Perth was organised by Nuclear Free WA.
Vimy was recently granted approval for its Mine Plan and Mine Closure Plan, but it does not yet have a final investment decision from its board nor an Indigenous Land Use Agreement with the Upurli Upurli Nuratja Native Title Claim group.
Speakers at the event included AMWU state secretary Steve McCartney, Upurli Upurli Nguratja Native Title Claimant and descendent of Anangu Spinifex people Debbie Carmody and Mia Pepper from Conservation Council WA.
There are currently no operating uranium mines in Western Australia, despite Premier Mark McGowan overturning WA Labor's previous opposition to uranium mining.
Approval for the Kintyre mine expired in March 2020, and the approvals for the Yeelirrie and Wiluna sites, where no work has started, expires in January 2022.
