GLW wins web award for popularity

On March 8, the Â鶹´«Ã½ Weekly website received a Top 10 Award from
the web analytics company Hitwise.

According to an email sent to GLW by Hitwise: "www.greenleft.org.au is a Hitwise Top10 Award winner for the period July — December 2009. During this period, www.greenleft.org.au ranked No. 7 based on market share of visits among all Australian websites in the Hitwise Lifestyle — Politics [category]."

The GLW website has won several such awards from Hitwise in the past (in 2005 and 2006), confirming the importance of the site as an online alternative to the mainstream media. As more people get their news from the web, the importance of keeping and expanding our radical online presence will only grow.

Many GLW readers, in Australia and abroad, read the paper each week for free via on website. Keeping the site going, however, is not free.
