Stop AUKUS WA, together with Friends of Palestine and Unionists for Palestine, protested outside a weapons’ conference at the Convention Centre on December 12.

About 50 protesters greeted Anne-Marie Trevelyan, British Minister for the Indo Pacific and corporate figures from Babcock and BAE Systems, who attended The Future of Defence in WA conference.

Protesters said they opposed the AUKUS nuclear submarine deal as well as any attempt to turn WA nuclear. They called on the government to focus on the major security threat — climate change — and ensure public funding goes to climate mitigation and renewables.

They also condemned the United States, British and Australian complicity in Israel’s war on Gaza.
