Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is again pushing a proposal to deport Palestinians from the West Bank to the Gaza Strip, despite broad opposition to what would be a violation of international law.
In a March 2 letter, Netanyahu asked Israel's attorney-general to conduct a legal review of the proposal, which would allow families of convicted 鈥渢errorists鈥 to be deported. Ynet reported that the prime minister said during a cabinet meeting that he does not agree with 鈥渉ow it [war crimes] is defined in the Geneva Conventions鈥.
Benjamin Netanyahu
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu raised the odd eyebrow when he insisted in an October 20 speech that Adolf Hitler had no plans to exterminate Jews until convinced to do so by a Palestinian 鈥 the then-Mufti of Jerusalem Haj Amin al-Husseini.
The German government immediately responded by pointing out that 鈥渁ll Germans鈥 know their nation was responsible, which must have made for an odd phone call: 鈥淚s that Mr Netanyahu? Yes, hi, Germany here. Ah, we just wanted to 鈥 um ... this is a bit awkward but ... you know that whole Holocaust thing? Yeah? That was us.
Let me be clear: I am not happy, as such, that Likud Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu won Israel's March 17 elections.
Netanyahu is a blood-soaked killer. He should be put on trial for his many crimes, from the relentless theft of Palestinian land to last summer鈥檚 massacre in Gaza 鈥 and I yearn to see that day.
