Stompen Ground '92 — Prepare to party all night! The Kimberley Aboriginal Arts and Cultural Festival is to be simulcast live nationally from Broome on Triple J, ABC Regional Radio and on ABC-TV. Among top Aboriginal bands and performers to take part will be Yothu Yindi, Scrap Metal, Kev Carmody, Tiddas, Mixed Relations, Warumpi Band and Coloured Stone. The extravaganza will be hosted by Ernie Dingo. Sat Sept 5, 10.30 p.m. until dawn.

Big Men, Broken Dreams — The fourth program in a series about the making of the Black Harvest trilogy of films about the impact of Europeans on the PNG highlands. Film makers Bob Conolly and Robin Anderson become entangled in the conflict between plantation owner Joe Leahy and the Ganiga people. ABC Radio National, Sat Sept 5, 1.30 p.m. (repeated Fri Sept 11, 9.30 p.m.).

Woorbinda — Woorbinda Aboriginal Community is west of Rockhampton in central Queensland. The people tell of life under Queensland's notoriously racist laws under Joh and before. They describe the community under the rule of Catholic missionaries and how they regained control of their community in the mid-'80s. The Habit — A radio play by Michael Cove. An Australian priest returns from Central America where he has been imprisoned by a dictatorial government. A gripping story of torture, politics and religion. ABC Radio National, Sun Sept 6, 2 p.m.

Master Class — A radio play by David Pownall. In January 1948, Andrei Zhdanov, head of the USSR's department of propaganda and agitation, accused six composers, including Shostakovitch, Prokofiev, Khatchaturian and Maskovsky, of adhering to anti-Soviet practices in their music. Master Class is an imagined meeting between Stalin, Zhdanov, Shostakovitch and Prokofiev at the time. ABC FM Stereo, Tues Sept 8, 8 p.m.

Out on Wednesday: Andy Irvine recorded live at the Port Fairy Folk Festival — Andy Irvine is in the vanguard of modern Irish music. He is considered a pivotal force in the development of Irish traditional music. ABC FM Stereo, Wed Sept 9, 8 p.m.
