Ireland's Che stamp sells out amid unprecedented public demand

The Che Guevara stamp produced by the Irish republic鈥檚 postal service (An Post) has sold out its initial 120,000 print run. The stamp was released to mark the 50th anniversary of the Latin American freedom fighter鈥檚 murder on October 9, 1967 by CIA-backed Bolivian state.

The announcement confounds right-wing critics, who opposed the stamp. 听An Post has described the demand for the 鈧1 stamp 鈥 using Irish artist Jim Fitzpatrick鈥檚 image of the revolutionary icon 鈥 as 鈥渦nprecedented鈥.

Israel bars European MEPs from Gaza

Israel has barred 13 European Parliament MPs from visiting Gaza during a four-day fact-finding visit to Palestine and Israel that started on September 4. The MEPs were from European United Left/Nordic 麻豆传媒 (GUE/NGL) group in the European parliament. They met members of the Palestinian Legislative Council and the Knesset (the Israeli Parliament), as well as activists from both Palestinian and Israeli human rights and peace groups.
