Two part training on police powers at protests and the role of the Legal Observer. A Zoom link will be made available on the for those joining online.
The first half of the session will cover police powers and basic laws and practices relevant to protesting and acts of civil disobedience. This is aimed to assist any person participating in actions to understand how to assert their boundaries and be aware of the limits of the law.
The second half of the session will focus on the legal observer role and its purpose as a police accountability mechanism and tool for community safety, as well as equip you with the knowledge to join the team of LOs here in Magandjin.
You are welcome to join for part or all of the training depending on your needs and interests.
Please be aware that a range of skill sets are valuable to legal observing and you do not need to have legal training to be a valuable legal observer.
