Snap rally at the Croatian Wickham Sports Club protests transphobe Craig Cole.

A snap rally was called to protest transphobe Craig Cole at the Croatian Wickham Sports Club on October 14.

Cole is holding “community information sessions” on how children are under attack in schools. His call for an “end to the sexualised indoctrination of your children” is fear mongering and promotes transphobia.

Cole is affiliated with Empowering Families Australia, the group which organised the hateful protest of Rainbow Story Time at Newcastle Library last year, said protest spokesperson Nimiah Anderson.

Cole is a former Victorian coordinator of the Australia One Party.

Protester Leon Flint said: “The community is showing up loud and proud to let Cole know his queerphobia is not welcome.”

“Just like any other group of people, trans folks can do good, bad or anything they want. At the end of the day, we’re just people and we deserve basic human rights.”

Nimiah Anderson said they were protesting “because school should be a safe learning space for all kids, and that includes trans kids”. Spreading fear and hateful misinformation “only causes harm and I don't want that here in my community”, Anderson said.
