In February this year, the U.N. Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, said “2023 is a year of reckoning. We need disruption to end the destruction.â€
We know that people from Lismore and surrounds have a deep understanding of climate destruction like few others on this continent, and that flood recovery is slow, hard and ongoing.
We also know that we need transformative social change, starting with an end to fossil fuels, to stop escalating climate disasters for Lismore, the Northern Rivers and right across the world.
This gathering will discuss why we need a mass, diverse and disruptive climate movement and how we can build one that has the power and strategy to match the urgency of the climate crisis and achieve transformative climate action.
Speakers include:
- Alexa Stuart - 19-year-old climate activist from Rising Tide Newcastle
- Sue Higginson, NSW MLC for the Greens and former Principal Solicitor for the Environmental Defenders Office
±Ê±ô³Ü²õÌýDuvvy Jester as MC, for the lols.

Over sixteen days Rising Tide organisers Alexa Stuart, Naomi Hodgson and Shaun Murray will be hosting forums and training in the Northern Rivers, Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney.
