SYDNEY — "Can I sign petition?", asked a woman walking past the small gathering outside the US consulate a 11am on November 11. "I was in the marines, joined at 15, but I don't agree with this war", she said.

Sydney Stop The War Coalition held a small silent protest to remind those marking Remembrance Day of the now eight-year-long war Australia, the US and NATO are waging on the people of Afghanistan. (Rudd, himself, was in Afghanistan, telling the troops that Australia was in the "long haul".)

Passers-by took leaflets and signed the petition to demand the Rudd government bring the troops home.

Stop the War Coalition is screening the new film by Robert Greenwald, Rethink Afghanistan, on November 23. For details visit .
