Capital Burning

Indonesia burns
while Suharto fiddles the books.
East Timor burns
with greed for blood and oil.
Forests burn
and crony capital fans the flames.
But the heat
has gone underground
and fuels the fire
burning in the people.
Now the people
burn for a new Indonesia.
Jakarta in flames
and the people thirst
for democracy.
Burn Suharto, burn.
