About 200 people protested outside its AGM in Sydney on September 28.
AGL claims to be "green" but it is Australia's Number 1 fossil fuel polluter, owning three of Australia's most polluting coal fired power stations. It also runs NSW's major unconventional gas plant in Camden, south west Sydney.
Protesters from Gloucester, Illawarra and from across Sydney made their voices heard load and clear in Angel Place, outside the Recital Hall, demanding that AGL close its coal and gas plants now — not 2050 or 2023 as it promises to do.ÌýEcopella added their voices to the call out.
Speakers included Zane Sikulu from 350.org, Mich Fetch from Wollar, Dr Helen Redmond frmo Doctors for the Environment, Melinda Wilson from Australian Mothers Against Gas, Julie Lyford from Groundswell Gloucester and Carol Bennet from the Knitting Nannas. The protest was organised by 350.org and Stop CSG Sydney and supported by GetUp!.
