Oz shorts give-aways

March 27, 1996
Issue

SYDNEY — The Chauvel Cinema, in association with the Australian Film Institute, is presenting the second of the 1996 Oz shorts programs — The Shorts Gig. It will screen twice only, on Wednesday, March 27, and Sunday, March 31.

This selection consists of seven short films that confront the unpredictable: Writer's Block, directed by Leon Cmielewski; The Suit by Lisetta Moscardo; Certain of Anything by Jo Guario; The Flutemaker by Caroline Grose; This Marching Girl Thing by Kelli Simpson; Kate Toll's Speak Softly, Please, to Mrs Babajaga; and Magnetism by Paul Vincent. Witty and contemplative, in The Shorts Gig nothing is what it seems. There are tantalising performances by Toni Collette, Matt Day and a rogue typewriter.

The Chauvel Cinema is offering Â鶹´«Ã½ Weekly readers five double passes to The Shorts Gig on Wednesday March 27 at 7.30pm. The first five people to ring Â鶹´«Ã½ on (02) 690 1220 after 10am on that day will each get a free double pass.
