No More Secrets
SYDNEY — An installation aimed at uncovering the secrecy of the two Aboriginal artists' identity, family and indigenous heritage is being held at Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre from July 2 to 26. No More Secrets traces how the two artists explore similar concepts in their art, on paper, in paintings and assemblages. The viewer is initially challenged to cross a boundary of bird cages filled with natural material and road kills — representing the loss of freedom, country, ancestry, culture and lifestyle for indigenous people — and then follow the artists' personal journeys of identity and family, and the effects of government policies on Aboriginal people. For more information on the exhibition — open daily, 10am-4pm — phone 9824 1121.
