More hospital staff demand release of children in detention

Staff at Lady Cilento Children's Hospital in Brisbane have followed in the footsteps of colleagues at Melbourne's Royal Children's Hospital and called for the immediate release of children being held in immigration detention centres.

The hospital's clinical ethics fellow Dr Melanie Jansen explained the decision to ABC radio by noting that 鈥渟taff at our hospital have seen children [that had been held in detention centres] with post-traumatic stress disorder, attempted suicide, developmental delays, recurrent nightmares, anxiety-related bed wetting, failure to thrive 鈥 a whole range of problems鈥.
