The Bersih 5.0 demonstration for clean elections in Malaysia made a huge splash despite threats of serious repression. The night before the demonstration at least ten prominent figures (including key organisers of the rally) were arrested.

People were keen to show their support.
"I'm here with my father"
Famous people joined the march such as Nurul Izzah Anwar, daughter of Anwar Ibrahim
As did the members of the Malaysian Socialist Party.
Queers United for Equality and Electoral Reform joined the march
Even ambulance officers were getting into the spirit of the day
Police set up road blocks to prevent the march from reaching the city
... and a water cannon to intimidate those who made it to the city.
Nonetheless, the mood was vibrant.
People came from all over
The train stations were full of Bersih supporters
Everywhere the message was people power against corruption
