New polling released on October 7 shows most Australians oppose Adani’s proposed Carmichael coalmine and an even bigger majority are against the company receiving a $1 billion federal loan through the Northern Australian Infrastructure Facility.

The ReachTel survey of 2200 people found 55.6% of respondents opposed the mine going ahead. That was more than twice the number who supported the mine, with 18% of respondents “undecided”. More than 65% said Queensland should veto the federal loan.

Most Labor, National, Greens and even One Nation voters strongly opposed the mine. Liberal voters were evenly split and only Australian Conservative voters supported it.
