Some thoughts about Israel?
"We're working to have a Palestinian state. But the reason why — you asked the question — is because terrorists are trying to stop that progress. They kill innocent lives to achieve objectives. That's what they do. And they're good. They get on the TV screens and they get people to ask questions about, well, you know, this, that or the other. I mean, they're able to kind of say to people: Don't come and bother us because we will kill you." — Emperor George Bush II at a White House press conference, July 28, responding to the question: "Three years ago, you argued that an invasion of Iraq would create a new stage of Arab-Israeli peace ... what has happened to America's clout in this region that you've committed yourself to transform?"
Prefers precision destruction
"Well — you know, we've made it clear that we care about wanton destruction." — Emperor Bush II, July 28.
Making it clear
"There was no doubt about the missile which killed all those children [in Qana] yesterday. It came from the United States, and upon a fragment of it was written: 'For use on MK-84 Guided Bomb BSU-37-B'. No doubt the manufacturers can call it 'combat-proven' because it destroyed the entire three-storey house in which the Shalhoub and Hashim families lived. They had taken refuge in the basement from an enormous Israeli bombardment, and that is where most of them died." — British Independent, July 31.
