Protesters gathered in Sydney Town Hall Square on October 30 to demand the United States government end its 60-year-old illegal blockade of Cuba.

It was one of a series of actions across the country organised by the Australia-Cuba Friendship Society (ACFS), as part of international pressure in the lead-up to the United Nations鈥 vote on a resolution to oppose the US blockade of Cuba on November 3.

The Sydney protesters chanted, 鈥淐uba, yes! Blockade, No!鈥 and 鈥淐uba, Si! Yankee, No!鈥 while handing out flyers to passers-by which explained the social impact of natural disasters on Cubans and the US blockade鈥檚 enormous role in causing and deepening the small island country鈥檚 economic problems.
