Defence fund
There has been an excellent initial response to the appeal for funds to support the hunted PRD activists and the defence campaign for arrested PRD and other political prisoners. Almost $1500 has been donated, including several hundred dollars from workers attending a CFMEU delegates' seminar in Canberra on August 17-18. Also two people have donated laptop computers, which have already been delivered to Indonesia.
More help is still needed. Computers and modems are needed in Indonesia to facilitate email campaigning. Money is needed for publications and to help activists survive who no longer can take up a job or have regular contact with their families.
Funds are also needed to help Nico Warouw, a PRD leader caught overseas in the aftermath of the July 27 riots and crackdown, who is now campaigning to explain to the progressive movement internationally the position of the PRD. Nico needs to travel to Europe and the USA in this cause. Please send funds to ASIET National Secretariat, PO Box 458, Broadway 2007.
