Hundreds of angry demonstrators rallied on June 8 outside the British Prime Minster Tony Blair's residence at 10 Downing Street, London, to protest against British arms sales to India and Pakistan and oppose war between the two countries.

“Tony Blair, Jack Straw, blood on your hands for aiding war!” and “Vajpayee, Musharraf, shame, shame, no more killings in our name”, were some of the key slogans. The protest was called by the South Asia Solidarity Group, supported by 15 other organisations, mainly representing Asian communities in Britain.

The organisations expressed their determination to continue campaigning against war and religious chauvinism in South Asia. They stressed the need to step up efforts to counter the intimidatory activities in Britain by right-wing Indian organisations, such as the Vishwa Hindu Parishad.
