Planet Islam — The first of Phil Rees' tough, challenging trilogy of documentaries which attempt to demystify the concept of Islam and to "recognise the dangers of stereotype". The first episode examines the situation in France, where ultra-right nationalist leader Le Pen continues to whip up anti-Muslim prejudice and encourages violent attacks on Algerian immigrants. Movie: Strawberry and Chocolate (1993) — This multi-award winning film from Cuba is a seductive comedy about tolerance, understanding and friendship. David is a by-the-book Communist student who is ditched by his girlfriend and chatted up by flamboyant gay artist Diego who opposes the Castro regime. SBS, Thursday, February 5, 9.30pm.

Movie: Together Alone (1991) — This compassionate and intelligent film focuses on two men who meet in a bar, then spend the night in deep candid debate about the issues of bisexuality, one-night stands, trust, marriage, drag queens and AIDS. SBS, Friday, February 6, 12.50am.
