The Music of Terezin — During World War 2, Terezin, 60 km north of Prague, was a Jewish ghetto. Administered by its Jewish residents, the town became a cultural oasis in occupied Europe, with performances of music and theatre that were forbidden elsewhere. Movie matinee: The Dark Years (1993) — Life in the Basque country as seen through the eyes of Itziarm, an 8-year-old girl whose childhood unfolds against the background of political oppression of the Basque people under the Franco regime. SBS, Monday, November 11, 12.30pm.

Mother Dao the Turtlelike — An account of the former Dutch East Indies (Indonesia) and its people between 1912 and 1930, using rare archival film to reflect the period of awakening of the national consciousness and later the beginning of industrialisation and the uprising against imperialism. Late night movie: Heat Wave (1935) — Feel like a gamble? Set your video for this relic from the ABC vaults. Comedy of a vegetable-seller's adventures with revolutionaries in South America. Problems arise when the rebels use names of vegies as code words for weapons and ammunition which they are trying to smuggle into the country. ABC TV, Thursday, November 14, 12.25am.

Once Upon a Time in Cyberville — A look at how the frightening technological vision of Blade Runner is coming true in Los Angeles; the way in which technology is contributing to the privatisation of public space; how the LA Police Department have a crucial involvement in the design of urban projects; and how the new information super-highways are leading to the creation of a society that never need leave its electronically tagged and locked home.
