CANBERRA — If you were one of the many people blasted away by ACT Jabiluka Action Group's "Jabiluka Jive" last year (which raised more than $2000 for the Jabiluka Legal Fund), then keep May 19 free from 8.30pm. Atomic Rage, again at the Gypsy Bar, is set to be another awesome gig with Trouser Trouser, Grand Theft Auto, the Shrooms, Katyusha and Pete & Fiete.

This year's benefit will raise funds for the Nuclear Free Ways Project, the brainchild of an alliance of anti-nuclear groups, including Friends of the Earth, the Australian Conservation Foundation and the WA Anti-Uranium Coalition.

The project aims to raise public awareness about Pangea's proposal for an international nuclear waste dump in central Australia and the proposed national dump at Billa Kalina in South Australia. The Billa Kalina region extends over the traditional country of the Kokatha and Arabunna peoples, both of whom oppose the dump.

The Free Ways project is modelled on a US road show to raise public awareness about a US government proposal a few years ago to transport radioactive waste from the east coast to the Nevada desert. A mock "radioactive waste transport carrier" was driven along the proposed route, visiting all local communities along the way.

The US government was forced by local opposition to abandon its proposal; we can achieve the same goal! Support our fundraiser and have a blast. For more information, phone JAG on 62517476 or Trish (Nuclear Free Ways) on 62579192.
